UBC Anime Club Forum

Hi all! On the coming Friday, the 16th, Hilda, me, Vanessa and Fion will be hosting the a cosplay panel! Both experience and people interested in starting cosplay or simply interested in knowing the process are welcome! We will be explaining some basic stuff in cosplay such as sewing and props making, wigs and contacts. Come prepared with questions, if you have any, as we will leave plenty of time to try and answer all that you have!

Location: IBLC (Irving K Barber Learning Centre) 182 (aka The Victoria Room)

IBLC shares a building with the Main Library and is located northwest of the SUB. Click here for a map.
Room 182 is located on the bottom floor, down the stairs, then down and around the hall from the main entrance.

--++ HALLOWEEN ANIME DANCE 2009 ++--
Music & cosplay, a staple for many anime and game fans.

For both members and non-members, we welcome you to attend the first of our semi-annual cosplay dances. Cosplay is encouraged, but not mandatory.
We will also be holding a Cosplay Contest during this event, as well as other prizes for all attendees! Be sure to come out to our showings to get your ticket! Early bird prices are available until October 16th!

Date: Saturday, October 24, 2009
Time: 6pm to 10pm
Location: SUB Partyroom (second floor)
Features: Cosplay contest, prizes, coat check, a night of fun and music.

The first of our two art contests features a seasonal (autumn/winter) theme. Submission deadline is November 20. Click here for details.

CG Basics may be the first, but it definitely won't be the last! We have one more panel coming up this term (former prez Yoshi's Vocaloid panel) and there will be more come spring semester!

Our first Karaoke Night is scheduled for Oct. 17 at K-Fever in Richmond. Check here for more info and signups. Keep in mind that happens in less than a week!

Do you have to be a member of your club to attend this? How does one become a member? (do you have to attend UBC?). How long do you think this panel will run?

You do not need to be a member to attend this though we would prefer that you join while you are here. XD You do not need to be a student of UBC to join the club. For first-timer (non-UBC student), it is $15 for the year until the end of August 2010. For returning members (non-UBC student), you get a discount so it is $12 for the year. I do not know how long this panel will run though... maybe 1 to 2 hours?

Unfortunately, I don't think I can make it in time, I won't be able to get to UBC until about 7pm. But I'm happy to meet with anyone from your club at that time ^_^

I'd love to talk about some of the ways we can work to promote each other. With AE coming to UBC again in 2010, I think you guys have a huge growth potential!
